What We Believe

Hi again!  I wanted to let you know about what we believe so that you can get to know us a little bit better.  John and I are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also sometimes known as the Mormons.  Our beliefs are very important to us, and they effect everything we do.  Let us tell you a little about what we believe!

First and foremost, we believe the Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer.  We love the Lord, and we know that it is only through His grace that we can be saved.  We are very grateful for God and His plan to send His Son Jesus Christ to earth to die for us.  Although we are far from perfect, we strive to be more and more like Him every day, and repent and continue to improve when we fall short.

One of my favorite things about the gospel of Jesus Christ is that we know that families are meant to be together forever.  John and I were married in the Provo City Center Temple, where we were married and "sealed" as husband and wife.  For us, that means that we were not just married "until death do us part," but for eternity.

Aren't we cute??  :)  We were so cold!

Our beliefs in Jesus Christ and His gospel bring joy to us even when life is difficult.  Because of that, we love sharing our beliefs with others.  John and I both served missions for our church before we were married - John for 2 years in the state of Georgia, and me for a year and a half in San Francisco, California.  We loved being able to meet people of different faiths, get to know them, and serve them while we taught about our beliefs and the joy they bring.

Our New Home!

We finally did it!  We bought our very first house!  We are so excited to be able to put down some roots here and stay in one place.  We have a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, and it has 2 floors.  I'm not originally from Texas, so looking for houses in Texas was strange for me-- no one has basements!  Something to do with the soil, it moves too much.

John and I are also excited about making this place our own.  We can paint, hang up pictures, do some landscaping, even do the odd construction project if we want to.  So far we've spent most of our time and energy making the living room more comfortable for us.

Here's what the living room looked like when we bought the house:

We got hardwood floors, a rug, a couch, added a fake chimney with a TV and electric fireplace, and combined the two windows into one big one!

Forgive my photography skills.  If John had taken these photos they would look amazing.  :)

We are loving living here, the neighbors are nice and we love the people at church!
